I was able to make it to the closest Acura delaershipabotu 20 miles away (Motorworld - Wilkes-Barre, PA). As I slowed onto the shoulder as soon as i got to 5-10 moh evrything returned to normal for 5 - 10 minute increments. ALl of the sudden lights started flashing and car sputtered. I was heading to my lakehouse in NE PA on the NE Extension of the PA Turnpike. thanks NickÄid you ever get any answers? I had a very similar problem last week. I'm taking my car back to the dealer on monday, what should I have them test or do to determine what exactly is the problem? and does this car have an extended warranty on the tranny, because it only has 83K on it. Does the Torque converter or solenoid have anything to do with this. Seems like it only messes up when it gets alittle hot. I mean it would work for a few miles then all of a sudden it acts up, so I turn off the engine, then restart and go to drive and it works again. no error message or lights came up on mine, but I think its something electrical. Dealer said my old fluid was dark and also had contamination in it, but thats all. this all started like two days ago and since its been at the dealership getting a power flush transmission service ($269.99) but that didnt help either. At the traffic light, I would hit the gas and the engine revs up but car acts like its in neutral and doesnt move, then when it does move sometimes it seems lke its slipping on second gear. I have the same exact problem that you have right now. Anyone had a similar problem and solution? I have since drained the tranny fluid and put some fresh fluid in there and still no difference. I found a transmission at a local junkyard for $850 and I local repair shop that I had do a transmission swap for me before on my 2000 millenia told me that they would do the swap for $300 so I would be looking at $1150 for a used one (no where near the $3200 the dealer quoted me!!!) but I dont want to go that route if its something like a $200 selenoid either. So I dont want to buy another transmission if its just something minor. To me its seems like something electronic and not the whole transmission itself because it will start working fine once I turn the car off then back on again. On the Way to the Acura Dealer the check engine light did come on, they said it was code "P0741 Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid Stuck Off" they told me I need a new transmission (without taking anything apart) and quoted me $3200 (which was for a used one) so I took my car and drove it to a local transmission shop which they said that there was something wrong with the transmission internally and they would have to drop the transmission to see whats wrong and that alone would cost me $550 to drop the transmission. Now thats the funny part to me because everytime its starts acting funny I can cut it off for about 10 seconds and turn it back on and it will run good for about 5 minutes. Shifting through all gears like it was fresh off the lot. I cut the car off for 10 seconds and start it back up throw it in gear and to my surprise it starting working smoothly again. Then I catch a redlight and the car didnt want to move. For the first mile everything was fine, then it started slipping under heavy acceleration but would maintaine speed. ![]() The ride to the acura dealership (which is about 6 miles from my house) was not a good one. I made an appointment at the Acura dealership (which was for 2 days away) and then I drove it there. ![]() The whole ride home was perfect and shifted through all gears as it should, no slipping or rough shifting. ![]() I managed to get to the side of the road and checked my transmission fluid, it was full but I noticed it was black like oil knowing that transmission fluid should never look like old oil i knew something was wrong so I cut the car off for like 5 mins then I started it back up and put it in gear and she went in gear fine and I made it home. Just 2 weeks ago I was driving down the street doing about 40mph came to a stop sign and when if went to pull off the transmission was slipping bad like the car was barely moving. My transmission has been perfectly fine no signs of slipping or rough shifting. I have a 2004 Automatic TL with 89k on it.
